I had so much fun exploring Victorian Square with Dan, Jeanelle, and Vivian. It was decorated for Christmas with soft music playing. Just enough to get anyone into the spirit. I think that Vivian enjoyed the fountain the most but their gorgeous Christmas tree was a close second. Its the perfect location for winter photos! Even if little Lydia had a bit of a cold she gave me some adorable smiles. I'm so honored to continue taking this family's photos. They take beautiful pictures every time! I had so much fun at the Krohn's Conservatory last weekend taking McKenzie and Charlee's photos. Their outfits were so cute! These sisters know how to have a good time exploring. I think that we covered every inch of the conservatory. Charlee's favorite part was the waterfall. It was practically a miracle that we didn't lose a shoe in the water because she kept trying to climb the iron fencing on the bridge. But the birds that they had on display were also a star attraction. I always try to make the photography session easy and have little to no pressure for the younger children. You want these early sessions to go well so that there is no bad stigma on portrait sessions. Especially so that the next time you, as a photographer, take their photo the child assumes its going to be a lot of fun and that it will involve exploring and talking and singing and dancing. Because that is what children love to do! Plus, fun and candid shots are much more interesting than posey, fake-smile pictures. This 3 year session with Finley was exactly what I aim for with young children. Even though the weather wasn't even close to ideal, we had a blast. AND the entire time that I edited these photos Taylor Swift's Shake It Off was on repeat in my head. Here is a look at my favorites! Also, props to Stephen for walking in cold creek water to the perfect photo spot. He also stayed very close at hand to keep Finley safe.
